Project Information

The goal of this project was to design a dynamic lyric accordion book for System of a Down's "BYOB," translating the song's urgent energy and dual vocal performances into a physical, visual experience. I aimed to capture the essence and contrast between the two singers by strategically using 2-3 distinct typefaces, letting the typography express the shift in tone and momentum throughout the verses and chorus. Through a deliberate and impactful color palette of red, black, and white, the design reinforces the song's themes of protest and chaos, creating an object where the visual form and lyrical content are powerfully intertwined.

This book is crafted for System of a Down fans, music lovers, and design enthusiasts who appreciate when album art and typography go beyond the digital screen. It appeals to those interested in punk, metal, and protest art aesthetics, as well as fellow artists and students who enjoy seeing how lyricism can be interpreted through tactile design, bold color choices, and expressive typography.
